Precautions for the use of ink scrapers

Time:Jul 02, 2022

It is optional to use an ink scraper in the ink transfer system. For rough solid printing or UV glazing, there is no need to use a scraper, just adjust the pressure between the rubber ink lifter and the anilox roller. A substantially uniform ink layer can be obtained. For the printing of general prints, a doctor blade should be used. At this time, the pressure between the rubber roller and the anilox roller should be smaller to ensure that enough ink is evenly hit to the edge of the doctor blade. Only then can a uniform ink layer be obtained.

In addition, the screws on the squeegee holder should be carefully adjusted. The screws can change the contact pressure between the squeegee and the surface of the anilox roller. If the above method does not work, that is, a smooth and uniform ink layer is still not obtained, you can check the blade of the squeegee to see if it has physical damage or rawness, or it may be that the screw fixing the squeegee frame is loose, causing the blade and the mesh to be loose. The axes of the rollers are not parallel.

Do not scrap the squeegee with small defects easily, but it can be run-in by machine on other spare printing units and used after the defects are worn away. A doctor blade can continue to be used even if it wears off several millimeters of width during its life.
